AND THE ELECTRIX TO HOST A WATKINS GLEN SUMMER JAM 1973
TRIBUTE CONCERT TO BENEFIT “HELEN
KELLER NATIONAL CENTER FOR DEAF-BLIND YOUTHS AND
ADULTS”.
New
York, NY, Tuesday, February 05, 2008: On Saturday April
5, 2008, The Electrix, together with Retro69 and Chrome
Boots will host a Watkins Glen Summer Jam 1973 tribute
concert to benefit the “Helen
Keller National Center For Deaf-Blind Youths And Adults
(HKNC) of Sands Point, NY”.
Authorized by an Act of Congress in 1967, the mission of
HKNC is to enable each person who is deaf-blind to live
and work in his or her community of choice.
The
Center provides services to youth and adults who are
deaf-blind according to the definition of deaf-blindness
in the Helen Keller Act. The Center
operates a residential and training facility at our
headquarters in Sands Point, NY. Switchboard hours at
headquarters are 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Support
services for youth and adults who are deaf-blind, their
families and the professionals who serve them across the
country are provided through our system of field

The
concert will feature many of the songs from the Grateful
Dead, Allman Brothers, and the Band that performed at
the July 28, 1973 Summer Jam event. The music will run
non-stop from 9:30pm to 2:30am, and will feature three
full sets of the Grateful Dead covered by the Electrix,
a set of the Allman Brothers performed by Retro69, and
songs from the Band covered by Meech and Friends. Eddie Kaercher will be performing with them
as well. The schedule will be rounded out by a line
dance demonstration by those crazy chicks, “Chrome
Boots", who will be strutting their dancing tricks
!
The
Benefit will take place on Saturday April 5, 2008 at the
Sunset Grill located at 4068 Sunrise Highway. Seaford,
NY. There is a $10 minimum donation.
